leaves.

leaves., originally uploaded by mjkimmel.

Taken while walking along a nature trail. I am please how the flash wrapped around the subject the way it did. The lighting gives the subject a nice, not too harsh glow, bringing the details out in the subject in a flattering manner.

too pretty to eat.

too pretty to eat., originally uploaded by mjkimmel.

Taken while following msw around at Price Chopper. Unfortunately I don't remember what the name of this plant is. :/ I really love the depth of color in this picture. The shadows around the leaves seem too add a lot more character.

I am becoming more 'brave' with taking pictures in public retail.

shocked at the depth of clarity.

done for now

i took this the day i almost stepped on a large rattlesnake while walking along the Mill Creek Streamway Park path near 95th and Renner.

at that point of learning my camera, I was mostly focused on trying to get photos of birds, kind of like hunting, without any bloodshed.

I tried experimenting with different iso levels, shutter speeds and fstops trying to figure out what combination i preferred for my shooting style and my camera.

I eventually learned that i love shooting - whenever i can - on iso 200. it just makes it a little more difficult and more bright sky dependent.

I love this picture because of the clarity i was able to capture (even if it is just the back side) of this bird. I love the DoF i was able to get as well.

Taken at Shawnee Mission Park. Almost completely dark. I think the light stream ending at the base of the tree is pretty cool.

Taken at the tennis courts in Antioch Park in Merriam, Ks.

The tennis courts so worn and rusty; dirty and cluttered with fallen leaves and twigs. The chaos is almost calming, in a city living way. I find beauty in things worn and seemingly past their day. The textures and colors that are brought out in time tell a story all their own.
